Chemistry powerful knowledge
GCSE Tuition and Assessment
The suite of lessons hit the 10 most frequently examined topics found on all GCSE papers. Each lesson will enable you to make the most progress in learning the content and then will provide a gap spotting exercise to make sure you are fluent with the skills and content needed to have exam success
C1 The structure of the atom
In this tutorial you will learn the fundamentals of the atom. All chemistry understanding hinges on you being fluent in these skills
C1B Groups of the periodic table
In this tutorial you will learn about the groups of the periodic table and how their properties are linked to the structure of their atoms .
C2 Bonding
In this tutorial you will be able to predict the compounds formed from different elements using the prior knowledge from the first 2 tutorials
C2B Large and small molecules
In this tutorial you will be able to explain the properties of molecules relating to their bonding. You will look at large molecules Diamond and Graphite as well as simple molecules.
C3 Moles
This is the tutorial that most student find the most difficult. In this tutorial you will learn about calculating masses and working out the formula of compounds from their masses
C4 Reactions of acids
This tutorial is all about acids and their reactions. It involves 2 required practiclas
C4B The reactivity series
In this tutorial you will learn about the reactivity series and how to write word and symbol equations
C5 Energy changes
In this tutorial you will learn about endo and exothermic reactions and how to draw energy profile diagrams
C6 Rates of reaction
In this tutorial you will learn how different factors affect the speed in which reactions take place.
C7 Hydrocarbons
In this tutorial you will learn about the compounds obtained from crude oil and how their structure influences their behaviour
C8 Testing for substances
In this tutorial you will learn how to test for different compound and the required practicals that are associated with this
C9 Atmosphere
This tutorial is all about the composition of the atmosphere and how we can get clean drinking water from non-potable water
Each lesson is taught by a current head of science with exam experience
Lessons are interactive and followed by a gap spotting exercise.
Exam practice
I will be able to spot where you need to improve immediately
Interactive
Student will be encouraged to ask and answer questions throughout the tuition. After the lesson and assessment has taken place I will be able to assist in any help that is needed for any topic that you are struggling with.
